Seagull

seagullThe number one trash item I see on the beach is water bottles. It’s not a returnable in Massachusetts so the people who collect soda cans and beer bottles don’t collect them and for some reason, many beach-goers don’t recycle them or throw them away.

If I Had a Hammer

hammerHere’s how a lot of remodeling projects happen:

You find this perfect little item for your house that is so you, so cool, so loveable that you have to buy it and you can’t wait to get it home. Only when you get home it doesn’t quite go with all of the stuff you already have.

So, you move the  furniture a bit, change around the throw pillows and coasters and it still doesn’t go.  OK, how about a new coat of paint on the walls? The new paint color doesn’t go with the curtains. So you buy new curtains and slipcovers and throw rugs and you hang new pictures and you install crown molding and you hand gild the coffee table and build bookshelves and rewire the house to accommodate the new lighting fixtures that will perfectly accent your new found object.

Yeah, it’s like that.

I have some new work that I am excited about that I want to get up on the website but it doesn’t quite go with the old website.

So for now, I apologize for the mess and inconvenience.

In the mean time you can follow what I am up to you can check me out on Instagram, twitter or tumblr.

Not Bored

As you may know, I have been tweaking my website.

There is an awful lot of advice for creatives on how to do this.

I try to listen to all of the advice and then send it through the what-feels-right-to-me filter.

One bit of advice I have been putting off is migrating my Blogger blog to my website to avoid having viewers exit my website with the possibility of never returning.

There are many reasons why I didn’t want to give up my blog, Bristol Bored that I have had since 2008, .

Sentimentality, loyalty, fear of new things are among the reasons I hesitate.

The biggest reason I didn’t want to switch is I don’t want to lose my freedom to experiment, to fail.

So I kept my blog neatly off of my nice pretty new website, like the pristine living room that only company is allowed to sit in. Well, if you have ever been to my house you know that I don’t have one of those rooms.

So without further ado:

Welcome to my new blog!

I hope my Blogger followers will join me over here along with some new subscribers. I do appreciate your support and attention over the years. Sometimes one kind comment is enough to keep me moving forward.

I am going to keep Bristol Bored up for now but I’m not going to migrate the content over here.
